Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a specialized, hands-on therapy that focuses on relieving pain and restoring movement by targeting the myofascial system—the web-like network of connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles throughout the body. When fascia becomes restricted due to trauma, inflammation, or poor posture, it can lead to chronic pain, stiffness, and limited range of motion.

What Is Fascia?

Fascia is a continuous sheet of connective tissue that wraps around muscles, bones, nerves, and organs.

It provides structure, support, and communication between systems. Healthy fascia is pliable and flexible. When injured or stressed, it can become tight, knotted, or stuck, contributing to:
  • Chronic muscle pain
  • Tension and headaches
  • Limited flexibility
  • Poor posture
  • Nerve impingement

What Is Myofascial Pain Syndrome?

This condition occurs when trigger points (tight knots in the fascia) form and refer pain to other parts of the body. Unlike localized injuries, this pain can be widespread and difficult to trace. Myofascial Release helps release these restrictions to reduce pain and restore balance.

How Myofascial Release Works

Our certified therapists use gentle, sustained pressure and slow stretching techniques to:
  • Locate fascial restrictions
  • Release tight tissue
  • Increase blood and lymphatic flow
  • Improve muscular function and alignment
Sessions are performed without oil or lotion, allowing for deeper engagement with the tissue. The pressure is firm but non-invasive, and the treatment is customized to each individual’s needs.

Conditions Treated with Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release can be effective for a wide range of physical and postural conditions, including:
  • Chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • TMJ (jaw dysfunction)
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sciatica
  • Postural imbalances
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Sports injuries
  • Post-surgical scar tissue
